At a webinar hosted by the Institute of Managed Account Professionals, our Head of Global Credit Solutions Frank Danieli continued to challenge the increasingly narrow definition of the term “private credit”.

While the term is often used interchangeably with sponsor-backed direct lending, Frank highlighted that private credit is far broader, encompassing lending outside traditional bank balance sheets and public bond markets across a diverse range of strategies.

He emphasised that two funds can both be labelled “private credit,” target similar returns, and yet have nothing else in common – and this is why transparency and disclosure matter.
