Sustainability
Our sustainability commitment reflects our responsibility to clients, shareholders and the communities in which we operate.
Our commitment to sustainability
We believe in building a sustainable business that benefits all stakeholders - shareholders, employees, clients, and the communities we serve. Sustainability drives our long-term decisions, ensuring better outcomes for everyone involved.
As significant owners in our business, our management applies a long-term perspective to decision-making and strategy. We integrate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors into our operations, investment decisions, and asset management.
Our sustainability framework contains six pillars and illustrates our approach
Dedicated to attracting, retaining, motivating and developing our workforce while prioritising the health, safety, and well-being of our people
Creating sustainable value through effective governance, strong ethical practices, and accountability, oversee internal and external compliance, and embed systemic and active risk management in our financial services
Incorporating sustainability factors into our businesses, operations, products and financial services offerings
Promoting and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace
Understanding the impact of climate change and are committed to minimising our environmental footprint by focusing on energy and emissions, waste, and water management
Safeguard the privacy and security of our customers, protect human rights in our value chain, and actively contribute to our community
Our position on climate
Our commitment to ESG practices evolves as we grow and diversify our business interests.
Minimising our environmental impact is crucial. We are dedicated to acting responsibly and in line with government guidelines. Our goal is to achieve net zero emissions for our direct operations by 2050 and reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity per employee by 50% by 2030.
Our key stakeholders
We prioritise the most important ESG concerns of our stakeholders. Effective engagement is crucial for building strong relationships and understanding their perspectives, concerns and needs.

Our sustainability activities
We are committed to donating a share of performance fees to causes that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), focusing on poverty alleviation (#1) and ending global hunger (#2).
We partner with respected organisations like CABI and CGIAR to ensure our contributions have a significant impact in developing regions.
We pride ourselves on integrating sustainable energy solutions into our real estate portfolio, setting a new industry standard. The Armada Bathurst Shopping Centre leads our renewable energy initiatives with over 1,200 solar panels, generating more than 1 million kWh annually and meeting 70% of the centre’s energy needs. Reducing carbon emissions by 820 tonnes of CO2 each year.
This effort is part of a broader $12 million investment to enhance sustainability across our properties. By project completion, over 11,000 solar panels will be installed at five shopping centres, reducing CO2 emissions by ~9,000 tonnes annually.
We are the principal partner of the Sydney Contemporary Art Fair, Australasia’s premier art event. In 2023, we launched the MA Art Prize, a $10,000 acquisitive award for an emerging artist showcased at Sydney Contemporary.
Congratulations to Corban Clause Williams, last year's deserving winner. We take pride in supporting both emerging and established artists through this prestigious platform.
To date, the MA Foundation has donated over $8.1 million to more than 35 charities. Our three Community Partners are GO Foundation, Backtrack and Mirabel Foundation. Through the efforts of our MA Foundation Committee and matched-giving programs, we support causes that matter to our staff.
We are a proud partner of the Ocean Lovers Festival - an annual celebration of ideas, art, music, and impactful actions. The festival showcases the latest innovations and technology dedicated to maintaining a healthy ocean.
Our investments in marina assets highlight our commitment to ocean health and sustainability, perfectly aligning with the festival’s mission to engage communities and promote innovative solutions.
