Our Joint CEO Julian Biggins recently joined Forager Funds Management’s ‘Stocks Neat’ podcast for a wide-ranging conversation with Forager’s CIO Steven Johnson.

Julian reflects on the origins and evolution of MA Financial, the ambition to build a business of enduring value, and why a true competitive edge is critical in today’s market.

“You've got to be really good at what you do. It's a really competitive world. Real estate, private credit: we're very deep in operational capability in both asset classes. We originate our own acquisitions, or we originate our own loans…In retail shopping centres we do everything from acquiring, development, leasing, property management, centre management, all owned by us in an integrated model, which we think delivers the best outcome for investors. In pubs, we pour beers, we do everything. In marinas, we're tying ropes at the berths.”

Julian also shares his perspective on investing through cycles, his conviction to investing in Australia and particularly in local real estate, and why understanding what sits under the hood is essential to making strong investment decisions.
