Sydney Contemporary, in partnership with Principal Partner MA Financial Group, today announced details for the Fair’s 10th anniversary edition, which will be presented at iconic arts and cultural precinct Carriageworks from 3 – 6 September 2026.
Since its inaugural edition in 2013 at Carriageworks, Sydney Contemporary has attracted over 250,000 visitors and recorded more than $154million in art sales. This year, for its 10th edition, the Fair will reflect on over a decade of collecting and supporting the arts community through what has grown to become a highly anticipated annual cultural event.
In 2026 Sydney Contemporary will present more than 100 exhibitors, presented across four sectors of Galleries, Futures, Works on Paper and the return of Photo Sydney after a successful inaugural edition last year. An extensive range of programming will supplement the gallery offering, with Installation and Performance curated by Director of UNSW Galleries José Da Silva, Talks curated by Vivid Minds curator Mitchell Oakley Smith, and an artist-led Kid Contemporary space.
Sydney Contemporary Founder and Co-Owner Tim Etchells said: "Our 10th edition is a celebratory moment and one that reflects not just the growth of Sydney Contemporary, but the extraordinary vitality and continual evolution of the Australian art market. We are proud to have grown a passionate community of collectors, galleries and artists who have each contributed to making Sydney Contemporary into a highlight on the cultural calendar in the Southern Hemisphere. When we launched in 2013, our ambition was to create a world-class art fair in Sydney, one that could stand alongside the best in the world. Now more than a decade on, I'm immensely proud of what we've built together, and what’s to come for our 10th edition.”
Sydney Contemporary is presented in partnership with ASX-listed global alternative asset manager MA Financial Group, a company that shares the Fair’s values of integrity and excellence, along with a passion for contemporary art. The 10th edition of the Fair will also see the return of the MA Art Prize for its fourth consecutive year, with the acquisitive award increased to $25,000 which will be awarded to one early-career artist showcasing work at Sydney Contemporary.
MA Financial Group Managing Director and Head of Asset Management, Andrew Martin said: “The MA Art Prize was established to celebrate and champion emerging and early-career artists across Australia, and we are proud to announce the acquisitive prize has increased to $25,000 this year. At MA Financial, we believe a thriving arts community plays an important role in shaping a vibrant and connected culture. Through the MA Art Prize, we are committed to supporting artists by providing a platform to showcase their work, build their profile and engage with a broader audience. Now in its fourth year, the MA Art Prize continues to highlight the depth and diversity of talent within Australia’s contemporary art scene, while helping artists realise their potential and progress in their professional journey.”
Sydney Contemporary 2026 brings together a mix of long-standing exhibitors alongside a dynamic group of new and returning participants, reflecting both the depth of support for Sydney Contemporary and the continued evolution of the Fair.
Sydney Contemporary Fair Director Zoe Paulsen said: "Ten editions of Sydney Contemporary marks over a decade of collectors discovering artists who have gone on to define contemporary art in Australia and globally – and that legacy is something we carry into every edition we produce. The Australian art market has matured remarkably in that time, and this fair has both reflected and driven that growth. We can’t wait to welcome visitors, collectors, and art lovers to our 10th edition this September, with a program that celebrates what has been built and an exciting glimpse of what comes next for collecting in this country."
