The New Zealand Active Investor Plus (AIP) Visa offers high-net-worth individuals a streamlined pathway to residency by making a significant investment into local businesses and growth-oriented sectors.
About the AIP Visa program
The AIP Visa offers two flexible investment categories:
- Growth: focused on active investments, including direct contributions into New Zealand businesses and managed funds. This visa requires a minimum investment of NZ$5m for a period of three years.
- Balanced: focused on passive investments, with the ability to choose from a variety of asset classes. This requires a minimum investment of NZ$10m over five years.

- Residency flexibility: Live, work, or study in New Zealand full-time, or travel in and out freely.

AIP Visa Statistics & Trends
As of 26 February 2026, Immigration New Zealand has received 589 applications under the new settings for 1,891 applicants, 105 in the Balanced category and 484 in the Growth category. These applications amount to a potential total minimum investment of NZD $3.47 billion into New Zealand’s economy.
The average time for an application under the new settings to be approved in principle is 35 working days.2.

Seeks to invest in businesses delivering economic and other positive impacts for New Zealand.

Target Returns: NZOCR + 4.0%1 p.a.

Target Investments: Investments via private credit and operating real estate (e.g. hospitality, hotels, marinas, education or aged care)
Distributions: Semi - annually
Eligibility: Wholesale investors only
